The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has congratulated a former Governor of the State and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
The professional body described the milestone as a celebration of “seven decades of a life devoted to public service, leadership, and unwavering dedication” to Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chapter Chairman, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni, the institute commended Daniel’s contributions as a professional engineer, accomplished businessman, and seasoned politician.
Daniel, popularly known as OGD, served as governor of Ogun State between 2003 and 2011 and was elected Senator in 2023.
The NIPR noted that his administration was marked by a strong commitment to good governance, innovation, and people-oriented policies, which helped reposition Ogun State as a preferred industrial destination.
The statement read in part, “The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) rejoices with a former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on his 70th birthday.
“As a towering figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, Otunba Daniel’s footprints on the sands of time remain indelible. His visionary leadership, statesmanship, and unrelenting commitment to the principles of good governance have inspired countless individuals and shaped generations of leaders and policymakers.”
The institute also lauded Daniel’s impact across key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, commerce, transportation, and sports, noting that his legacy continues to resonate.
“It is instructive to note that his tireless efforts to promote good governance set a high standard for public servants and serve as a benchmark for those aspiring to make meaningful contributions to national development,” the statement added.
Highlighting his current role in the National Assembly, the NIPR commended the senator for what it described as effective representation and purposeful lawmaking.
“As the lawmaker representing Ogun East, he continues to deliver the dividends of democracy through responsible oversight, effective representation, and impactful legislation,” it stated.
The institute, therefore, wished the former governor continued good health, joy, and fulfillment as he marks the significant milestone.
