A Nigerian-born IT professional and philanthropist, Sir Charles Omiyale, and his wife, Lady Mrs Shaneka Omiyale, have been conferred with the prestigious Knighthood of Saint Christopher (KSC) in the United States, in what has been described as a significant milestone for the Anglican Communion in North America.
The investiture, which took place in Houston, Texas, was conducted under the auspices of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) America Mission (CONNAM) at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
Officiating at the solemn ceremony, the Coordinating Bishop of CONNAM, Rt. Revd Dr. Augustine Unuigbe, formally admitted the couple into the noble Order, marking what church leaders described as a sacred recognition of their commitment to Christian service, discipline and witness.
In his tribute, the Bishop of CONNAM Region 2, Rt. Rev. Celestine Irona, commended the honourees for their unwavering contributions to the growth and advancement of the Anglican Communion in North America.
According to him, the investiture followed a thorough consideration of their spiritual and moral standing, as well as their dedication to the propagation of the gospel.
“The new Knights have been found worthy in spiritual and moral character and for their outstanding devotion towards the propagation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Irona said.
He particularly highlighted Sir Omiyale’s accomplishments as an IT professional, businessman and philanthropist, noting his impact both in the diaspora and in his home community of Igbajo, Osun State, Nigeria.
The ceremony drew dignitaries and guests from different parts of the world, underscoring the global significance of the occasion within the Anglican community.
It was further described by church authorities as a sacred service symbolising the formal admission of the honourees into an Order devoted to faith, service and Christian leadership.
The event culminated in a grand reception held at the Glitz N Glam Event Centre in Houston, bringing together family members, clergy and well-wishers in celebration of the historic honour.
