Makeup talent show returns, to showcase Nigeria’s creative power in Lagos

The much-anticipated return of the Makeup Talent Show lit up Lagos over the weekend, bringing together leading figures across Nigeria’s beauty, business, and creative industries in a vibrant display of talent and innovation.

The event convened by Dorothy Agbonlahor, reaffirmed Lagos’ status as a major hub for artistic expression and cultural enterprise, attracting stakeholders committed to the growth of the country’s creative economy.

A major highlight of the show was the presence of Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, whose participation underscored increasing collaboration between government and the creative sector. His attendance was widely seen as a strong signal of institutional support for initiatives that promote talent development and cultural visibility.

In a move that drew widespread commendation, Hon Idris Aregbe announced a reward package for the winner, Aribasoye Eniola Elizabeth, which includes a ₦2 million cash grant and a fully equipped makeup studio in Victoria Island, Lagos. The initiative is expected to provide both financial backing and a sustainable foundation for entrepreneurial growth within the beauty sector.

The event also featured an impressive lineup of industry leaders and influencers whose contributions continue to shape Nigeria’s beauty ecosystem. Among them were Kayode Oladapo – CEO for Godrej West Africa, Chris Oputa – CEO Studio 24 Nigeria, Bidemi Ladipo – Head Portfolio Management Airtel Nigeria, Banke Meshida-Lawal, Bimpe Onakoya, Dabota Lawson, Diiadem, Nixole Chikwe, Ify Okoye, Delonyii,  Mocheddah, Dr Omobolaji, Sypmly Tacha alongside several other notable personalities.

Looking ahead, the convener Dorothy Agbonlahor, is set to expand the scope of the initiative with a stronger focus on education and community outreach. Plans for the 2027 edition include vocational training programmes aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills in the beauty industry.
