The Lagos Forward Network, LFN, a strategic civic and leadership platform committed to fostering sustainable development and inclusive growth in Lagos State, has appointed Oreoluwa (Ore) Afolayan as its new Director General. The announcement was made during a well-attended press briefing in Lagos, drawing stakeholders from various sectors, including public, private, and development organisations.
“Lagos Forward Network is dedicated to mobilising individuals and institutions towards the sustained development of our state through strategic engagement and policy innovation,” said a representative at the briefing. “With Ore Afolayan at the helm, we are confident that our vision for an inclusive Lagos is within reach.”
Ore Afolayan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, combining policy expertise, executive leadership, and entrepreneurial insight. He holds an Executive MBA and has completed leadership programs at esteemed institutions such as the African Leadership Institute (ALI) West Africa and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Centre. His background includes serving as Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, where he gained invaluable experience in governance and public sector leadership.
Toluwase Olaniyan, Co-Convenor of the Lagos Forward Network, praised Afolayan’s appointment, stating, “Ore Afolayan represents a new generation of leadership defined by clarity, competence, and execution. His diverse experience in policy and enterprise positions the Lagos Forward Network to build a credible, impactful platform for the future.”
As the Director General, Afolayan will spearhead LFN’s strategic initiatives, focusing on statewide network development across all local government areas, stakeholder engagement across various sectors, and the establishment of policy and thought leadership platforms. Additionally, he will oversee community-driven impact and empowerment programs designed to uplift Lagos communities.
Afolayan’s leadership is expected to enhance LFN’s credibility as a platform for shaping critical conversations around governance, economic opportunities, and effective leadership in Lagos State. Operating at the intersection of policy, people, and progress, the Lagos Forward Network continues to cultivate a broad coalition of professionals and community leaders committed to the long-term advancement of Lagos.
