Kogi youths positioned for global relevance, says Commissioner after GITEX Africa

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment and global competitiveness following his participation at GITEX Africa, held in Marrakech, Morocco.

GITEX Africa, widely regarded as the continent’s largest technology and innovation gathering, brought together leading tech innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and young talents from across Africa and beyond to exchange ideas and showcase transformative solutions.

Reflecting on his experience at the event, Hon. Anyebe noted that the exposure further reinforced the critical role young people are playing in shaping the present and future of economies, particularly within the African continent.

“What I witnessed at GITEX Africa clearly shows that young people are not waiting for the future; they are already creating it. Across sectors, they are driving innovation, building practical solutions, and redefining possibilities,” he said.

The Commissioner emphasized that Kogi State is actively aligning with this continental movement by prioritizing policies and initiatives that equip young people with the skills, platforms, and opportunities needed to compete on a global scale.

He stated that his participation at the event would translate into renewed efforts to strengthen youth-focused programmes in the state, with a clear focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and capacity development.

“Our commitment remains firm—to create an enabling environment where Kogi youths can learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to economic development, not just locally but globally,” he added.

Hon. Anyebe also commended the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he described as consistent support for youth-centered development initiatives in the state.

According to him, the governor’s vision continues to open pathways for progress, ensuring that young people in Kogi State are not left behind in the rapidly evolving global landscape.

He expressed optimism that with sustained investment and strategic partnerships, Kogi youths would increasingly emerge as key drivers of innovation and economic growth.

The Commissioner reiterated the state government’s resolve to build an inclusive future where every young person is given the opportunity and platform to thrive.
