SANITATION
The Chairman of Ikoyi/Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Bola Oladunjoye, says the council has stepped up efforts to boost awareness and ensure residents’ participation in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
Oladunjoye made this known during a sanitation monitoring exercise conducted alongside the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, and Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the state governor.
He said the council deployed multiple channels to sensitise residents, including radio jingles, newspaper advertisements, street campaigns, and community outreach in Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin.
“We have done a lot in terms of awareness through various media platforms,” he said.
“We aired jingles on radio, placed messages in newspapers, and engaged in community-based outreach to reach residents directly.”
The chairman added that the council would sustain the momentum through continuous engagement with stakeholders.
“What we need to do now is to maintain this pace,” he said. “It is the minimum requirement for a good life, and we will keep reminding residents that environmental sanitation is not just for individual benefit, but for the collective wellbeing of the entire state.” (NAN)
