…Pledges People-Oriented Representation

A healthcare professional and unionist, Comrade Nurse Ishaku Yakubu, has declared his intention to contest the Zonkwa Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to deliver people-oriented representation.

Yakubu made the declaration on Friday at the APC Local Government office in Zonkwa, drawing party stakeholders, supporters and community members in what observers described as an early move ahead of the party primaries.

Addressing the gathering, the APC Chairman in the area, Markus Steve Bahago, approved the commencement of mobilisation across the constituency. He urged the aspirant and his supporters to adhere to acceptable political standards, emphasising discipline and grassroots engagement.

Also speaking, Director-General of the campaign organisation, George Yahaya, assured party members of the team’s commitment to building an inclusive and formidable structure aimed at securing victory at the polls.

In his remarks, Yakubu said his decision to enter the race followed sustained calls from constituents and professional groups, particularly within the healthcare sector, who, he noted, have confidence in his capacity to represent their interests.

He expressed optimism about securing the party’s ticket, adding that his background as a union leader would galvanise support from healthcare professionals and the wider electorate.

“I am committed to promoting unity across Zonkwa Constituency and advancing legislation that will positively impact our people, especially in healthcare delivery, social welfare and community development,” he said.

Yakubu, who is the Kaduna State Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, said his experience in the health sector has prepared him for effective representation.

Earlier, the APC Ward Chairman of Gidan Jatau Ward, Titus Kazah, formally presented the aspirant, describing him as a credible candidate with a strong understanding of the needs of the people.

The declaration marks the early phase of what is expected to be a competitive race for the Zonkwa Constituency seat as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle.
