A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and presidential aspirant, Gbenga Hashim, has expressed concern over the spate of violence in parts of the country, urging authorities to take stronger and more coordinated steps to address insecurity.

In a statement reacting to recent incidents in Borno State, Plateau State, Kaduna State, and Kwara State, Hashim described the situation as troubling and called for renewed efforts to safeguard lives and property.

He referenced reports of attacks in affected communities, noting that the scale and frequency of the incidents highlight the need for strengthened security measures and improved coordination among relevant agencies.

“This is no longer a case of isolated incidents. There is a need for a more comprehensive and sustained response to ensure the safety of citizens,” he said.

Hashim urged security authorities to go beyond routine responses and develop clear strategies to prevent further violence, protect vulnerable communities, and ensure accountability.

He also emphasized the importance of restoring public confidence through visible and effective action.

“Beyond expressions of sympathy, there is a need for concrete steps that will reassure citizens and deter further attacks,” he added.

The PDP stalwart further called for greater national and international attention to Nigeria’s security challenges, stressing that sustained focus is necessary to mobilize support and resources.

While extending condolences to victims and their families, Hashim maintained that addressing insecurity requires urgent, coordinated, and long-term solutions.

“Condolences are important, but what is needed most at this time is decisive action to stop the violence and protect lives,” he said.

He warned that continued insecurity could have broader implications for national stability if not effectively addressed, and called on all stakeholders to work collectively towards lasting peace and security.
