A technology-driven transport and mobility company, GIG Mobility, GIGM, on Thursday announced its transition into a full mobility ecosystem, as it unveiled an integrated digital platform designed to enhance travel and customer experience.
The announcement was made at the company’s 2026 GIGM Product Conference in Lagos, where the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Enahoro Okhae, said the move was driven by growing customer demand for broader mobility solutions beyond intercity bus services.
The newly launched platform integrates multiple services, including HireX by GIGM and PASS by GIGM, into a unified digital interface.
Okhae explained that HireX by GIGM is a premium vehicle hire marketplace that connects users with verified luxury car vendors for on-demand or scheduled bookings.
According to him, the service is targeted at customers seeking comfort, flexibility, and professionalism in their transportation needs.
“Through an easy-to-use digital platform, users can access premium vehicles for personal, business and lifestyle purposes while enjoying trusted service standards,” he said.
He added that PASS by GIGM, meaning Premium Access to Simplified (Travel & Tour) Services, serves as the company’s travel and tours division, offering comprehensive travel solutions beyond road transportation.
Okhae said the division caters to individuals, groups and organisations seeking convenient and professionally managed travel experiences.
He described the development as a major strategic shift for the company.
“We are no longer just a company that moves people from Lagos to Benin. We are now a global mobility organisation.
“What we have built is an ecosystem where everything around travel sits on one platform, bus transport, airline tickets, vehicle hire, tours, and soon hotels and insurance,” he said.
Okhae noted that the platform eliminates fragmentation across the travel sector by enabling users to access a wide range of services in one place.
“It became difficult to keep telling people we are just a bus company. The demand was clear — people wanted more, and we had to evolve,” he said.
Highlighting HireX as one of the flagship innovations, he said the platform allows users to access premium vehicles without ownership.
“You don’t need to own a luxury car to use one. You can hire for a few hours, depending on your needs. It’s about access, flexibility and service,” he said.
On PASS by GIGM, Okhae said the platform integrates airline bookings, visa services, curated tour packages and other travel offerings, positioning the company within the broader travel and tourism value chain.
“We have moved from selling transportation to selling experiences,” he said.
On innovation, the CEO disclosed that the company is advancing plans to deploy electric vehicles, EVs, for passenger transport, leveraging insights from pilot projects conducted by its logistics arm.
He said the initiative would include the development of a nationwide charging infrastructure to support sustainable mobility.
“It is a big project. We are already engaging financial institutions and building a plan that spans across Nigeria,” he said.
Okhae also revealed plans to strengthen partnerships within the tourism sector, including providing mobility support for tourism activities in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He reiterated that technology remains central to the company’s operations.
“At GIGM, we do nothing without technology. It is the foundation of everything we do and what keeps us ahead,” he said.
He added that the GIG Mobility Product Conference would now be held annually to showcase innovations shaping the future of mobility.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented by Dr. Quadri Adebowale, stressed the importance of integrated mobility to tourism development and economic growth.
“Mobility is not just about moving from one point to another. It connects people to experience business, culture, nightlife, food, fashion and enterprise,” she said.
She warned that fragmented and inefficient transport systems could hinder tourism and productivity.
“When movement becomes stressful or unpredictable, cities lose momentum, especially in tourism,” she said.
Benson-Awoyinka added that the state government is promoting collaboration through initiatives such as the Ethno-Mobility framework to align policy with innovation and ensure inclusive mobility.
“The future of mobility is integrated, and it requires collaboration between government, private sector and communities,” she said.
