Tetracore Energy Group has commissioned a new Auto Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in Uwusan, Benin City, Edo State, as part of efforts to expand gas-powered mobility and downstream gas distribution in Nigeria.

The company said the station, with an installed capacity of 120,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD), can fuel up to 200 vehicles daily, targeting mass transit systems, trucks, buses and other commercial CNG-powered vehicles.

Strategically located to serve Benin City and surrounding industrial corridors, the facility is expected to improve fuel availability and support growing demand from logistics operators and industrial users in the area.

Tetracore noted that the development aligns with its strategy to build a scalable, corridor-based gas infrastructure network focused on high-demand urban and industrial clusters.

The company added that the integration of the station into its wider distribution network is designed to enhance supply reliability, optimise asset utilisation and support steady revenue generation.

It also said the Benin axis represents a key growth corridor, with increasing demand from commercial fleets and industrial offtakers, positioning the new station for strong utilisation.

According to the firm, the facility will provide users with lower and more predictable fuel costs, improved energy security, and increased operational efficiency, while supporting Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy.

Tetracore disclosed that a dedicated CNG mother station to serve the Benin axis is currently under development and is expected to come onstream in the coming months to further strengthen supply capacity and network efficiency.

Speaking on the development, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Olakunle Williams, said the project reflects a broader strategy to expand gas-powered mobility across the country.

“This is a deliberate step in our strategy to scale gas-powered mobility across Nigeria. We are not simply deploying stations—we are building a resilient energy network that enables industries, transport operators and businesses to transition to cleaner, more efficient fuel at scale,” he said.

He added that the planned mother station would reinforce supply assurance and position Benin as a key node within the company’s expanding gas distribution network.

Tetracore reiterated its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s gas commercialisation agenda through infrastructure development aimed at improving energy access, boosting industrial productivity and promoting long-term sustainability.
