Commissioner of Police Akaninyene Ezima, has assumed duty as the Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC).
Ezima, who joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet ASP, has served in several capacities across the country.
He was until his redeployment the Commissioner of Police, Force Intelligence Department Annex, Lagos. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 17 CID, Akure.
He had previously worked with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC as Zonal Head in Ibadan, Lagos, Benin and Kano, where he was noted for his contributions to anti-corruption operations.
He succeeds AIG Uche Ifeanyi Henry, the pioneer Director of the Centre, who has been redeployed to the Department of Training and Development at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Police said his appointment is aimed at strengthening the fight against cybercrime and other digital offences.
