Former Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Dr Chris Ekiyor has reassured his supporters that he is in the race for the Patani- Bomadi, federal constituency seat, Delta state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC
Ekiyor, who is a former Commissioner in Delta state and Chairman Patani local government spoke yesterday when some of his supporters visited him in Patani to inquire if he was still contesting the election. He said he had been silent since because it is not yet time for the campaigns as indicated by the Electoral Act as amended..
He graciously thanked his supporters in the constituency, promising that his campaign would effectively take off in compliance with the electoral guidelines . He said he was impressed with the new electoral reforms, saying it would give room for the electorates to elect the right choice as their Representative upin the House of Representatives.
” You have come to ask me if I am still in the race for the House of Representatives election for the Bomadi-Patani federal consistency seat. Since it is not time for the campaigns that is why you have not been seeing the campaigns. As soon as it is time for campaign we will start. I thank you all for your show of commitment and solidarity to this electoral project “, he said.
He said he would unveil his programmes and visions for the constituents at the right time, adding that he was in the race to better the area.
He recalled that as president of IYC, Chairman of Patani local government and Commissioner Ministry of Commerce at separate times in the state he served meritoriously. He emphasized that as president IYC his tenure pursued a non-violent struggle and created the template for the sustainable peace currently enjoyed across the Niger Delta.
