A pro-government movement, the Grassroots Initiative for Otu/Odey 2027, has launched a campaign calling for the re-election of Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy, Dr Peter Odey, in 2027.

The group urged all political parties and stakeholders in Cross River State to adopt a consensus approach to return the duo for a second term, describing the move as necessary for stability, continuity and progressive leadership.

Founder and Director-General of the initiative, Mr Friday Awade, who addressed journalists in Calabar on Thursday, said the advocacy transcends party lines because the administration’s impact has been felt by citizens irrespective of political affiliation.

“This is a call for consensus support from all political parties for the continuation of a working government,” Awade stated.

He highlighted key achievements of the Otu’s administration, including the reclamation of the Tinapa Business Resort from AMCON, the “Zero Pothole” policy, and improved public lighting across Calabar.

The group also commended the Chief of Staff, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, and the Special Adviser on General Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba Esq, who serves as Convener of the initiative.

Awade announced plans for community engagements, town hall meetings and sensitization campaigns across the three senatorial districts, with strong involvement of youths and women.

According to him, Unity in purpose brings strength; consensus in leadership brings progress, stressing the need for brotherhood ahead of the 2027 polls.
