LAGOS — The General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Samuel Sanusi, has been elected Chairman of the Steering Committee for the West Africa Bible Society CEOs Affinity Group, a role that also extends his oversight to Central Africa.

The election was held during the West Africa CEOs Affinity Group meeting in Lomé, Togo.

In his acceptance remarks, contained in a press statement signed by Benjamin Mordi, BSN’s Manager, Media and Public Relations, Sanusi expressed his commitment to strengthening the Affinity Group and positioning it as a model across Africa and within the global United Bible Societies (UBS) network.

“I would be glad to leave behind West African Bible Societies that are self-sustaining and able to contribute meaningfully to the global fellowship of Bible Societies,” he said.

In a related development, Sanusi was also elected as a member of the All-Africa Bible Societies CEOs Affinity Group at a separate meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was appointed Chairman of the group’s constitution review committee.

The Bible Society of Nigeria has continued to play a leading role in Scripture distribution, ranking among the top distributors of Bibles globally, according to annual UBS statistics. The organisation has also maintained a long-standing position as the world’s leading distributor of English Bibles.

BSN is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian organisation dedicated to translating the Bible into Nigerian languages, publishing and distributing Scriptures, and mobilising resources for Bible work.
