A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Khamis Musa Darazo, has called on party leaders to adopt Dr. Bala Wunti as the consensus governorship candidate for Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Darazo, a loyalist of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made the appeal in a statement, urging the APC leadership at national and state levels to prioritise unity and strategic positioning.
He said the call aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he noted emphasises good governance, economic growth, and inclusive leadership.
According to him, presenting a widely accepted candidate would strengthen the party’s chances in Bauchi State and enhance internal cohesion.
Darazo described Dr. Bala Wunti as a candidate with the leadership capacity, administrative experience, and grassroots connection required to drive development in the state.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is about delivering results, restoring confidence in governance, and building a better future for Nigerians. Dr. Bala Wunti has the vision and competence to advance this agenda in Bauchi State,” he said.
He added that adopting a consensus candidate would help minimise internal disputes often associated with party primaries and position the APC for a stronger outing in the governorship race.
Darazo also urged party stakeholders to support candidates who are credible and capable of translating national policies into tangible development at the state level.
He reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu and called on APC leaders to take decisions that would promote unity and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
