Nigerian-born Afropop artiste, Ndubuisi Vincent, popularly known as Vvinchy, has said his musical journey from the streets of Lagos to the Netherlands is helping to reshape the sound and identity of diaspora Afrobeats, as he prepares to release a new single titled Overdose.

Speaking ahead of the release scheduled for April 17, 2026, the Netherlands-based singer noted that his artistic direction is not driven by fleeting trends but by a deliberate effort to build a lasting catalogue that reflects both his African roots and global exposure.

According to the artiste, operating between two worlds, Nigeria and Europe, has enabled him to carve a distinct sound that resonates with a growing international audience.

“My music is not about chasing viral moments. It’s about building a catalogue, a presence and a legacy that reflects who I am, rooted in African rhythm but shaped by international experience,” he said.

The Ogun State-born artiste, who attended Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, explained that his style leans towards mid-tempo, mood-driven Afrobeats, prioritising emotional depth, controlled delivery and strong replay value over fast-paced commercial formulas.
He disclosed that each of his tracks is crafted with intention, balancing rhythm, melody and storytelling to create music that grows on listeners over time and fosters loyalty.
Vvinchy further revealed that his growing profile is backed by measurable traction, with over 300,000 cumulative streams across key releases and more than 3,000 monthly listeners on Spotify as of 2026.

Describing himself as an emerging artiste with increasing international appeal, he said his body of work demonstrates consistency and versatility, with notable songs such as Therapy and Rematch recording strong audience response, while tracks like Balance and Heaven showcase his range.

He added that his music catalogue is designed as a long-term foundation rather than a tool for short-term visibility, stressing that his focus remains on sustained organic growth.

On live performances, the artiste hinted at ongoing efforts to expand his presence across European stages, including university shows and festival circuits within diaspora communities, noting that details would be confirmed in due course.

Speaking on his forthcoming single, Vvinchy described Overdose as a continuation of his established sound, built on a strong rhythmic base and refined sonic delivery.
“Overdose is not a departure; it is a continuation of momentum, strengthening my sound identity while building on existing listener engagement,” he said.

He maintained that he is part of a growing wave of diaspora Afrobeats artistes contributing to the global expansion of the genre, positioning himself as a developing act with a clear artistic direction and rising influence.
