Businessman and philanthropist, Prince Lekan Adewoye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kwara South Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adewoye, founder of Lekan Adewoye Foundation and known for his philanthropic efforts in education and empowerment, made the declaration at a well-attended ceremony held at Ajase-Ipo Comprehensive High School, Ajase-Ipo.

He said his ambition is driven by a desire to offer accessible and people-centred leadership, pledging to maintain close contact with constituents and ensure responsive representation.

According to him, effective leadership must be rooted in accountability, constant engagement, and service to the people.

He also outlined his key priorities, including youth empowerment, support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, and entrepreneurs, as well as improved access to federal intervention programmes for youths and women.

Adewoye further promised to push for stronger agricultural policies, including mechanised farming, agro-processing, agricultural cooperatives, and rural farm estates across Kwara South.

The declaration attracted a large crowd of party members, community leaders, and supporters from across the senatorial district, reflecting strong grassroots interest in his candidacy.

Dignitaries present at the event included members of the House of Representatives and traditional rulers, among them the King of Arandun, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibikunle Olapade Adekanye, who lent royal presence to the occasion.

Speakers at the event described Adewoye as humble, disciplined, and committed to public service, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver effective representation.

They also urged residents of Kwara South to support his aspiration, describing him as a candidate capable of driving inclusive development in the senatorial district.

The event ended on a hopeful note, with supporters expressing optimism about renewed growth and stronger representation for Kwara South.
