ABUJA – The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced plans to host the maiden Agricultural Mechanisation for Export-Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026), aimed at driving investment in mechanised farming and strengthening Nigeria’s agro-export capacity.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu who was represented by Second Deputy President ACCI, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong, said the Expo scheduled for June 10 to 11 2026 in Abuja, is designed to reposition the agricultural sector for improved productivity, value addition, and global competitiveness through technology adoption and private sector participation.
Obegolu said the event would be held in collaboration with the Agricultural Trade Group, JMT Plus Farms and Agro-Allied. He emphasised that the initiative seeks to create a continental platform that connects stakeholders across the agribusiness value chain while promoting sustainable investment opportunities.
According to him, the event, themed “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” is expected to attract policymakers, investors, manufacturers, researchers, financial institutions, and international organisations, with a focus on enhancing food security, economic diversification, and export-led growth.
“AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 represents a landmark initiative jointly undertaken by the Agricultural Trade Group, JMT Plus Farms, and Agro-Allied, in collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural sector for greater productivity, value addition, and global export competitiveness.
“This event is envisioned as a premier continental platform to promote agricultural mechanisation, strengthen export-quality production systems, and attract sustainable investment opportunities across the agribusiness value chain,” he said.
The ACCI president further explained that a key highlight at the Expo would be the official declaration by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with the President of NACCIMA, Jani Ibrahim expected to deliver a keynote on agricultural exports and private capital participation.
“Across its two days, AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will feature exhibitions of advanced agricultural technologies, including mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems, agro-processing innovations, and climate-smart solutions,” he added.
The organisers said the Expo would also serve as an investment marketplace linking agritech developers, producers, and investors, with activities including technical sessions, workshops, business engagements, and youth-focused programmes to drive innovation and long-term sectoral transformation.
