2027 Delta North: We will reject Okowa – Johnson vows

…Seeks Clarification on Leadership Decisions

ABUJA — Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a public commentator and analyst, Ogboi Johnson, has expressed opposition to the possible emergence of Ifeanyi Okowa as a senatorial candidate for Delta North.

Johnson stated that there are plans among some party members to mobilize support across units, wards, and local government areas in Delta North in response to the development.

According to him, the position reflects a broader concern about leadership choices and the direction of representation in the district.

“Delta State needs forward-looking leadership. The focus for 2027 should be on competence, accountability, and effective representation,” he said.

He added that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North have reservations about the former governor’s potential candidacy, stressing that their موقف is based on their assessment of past governance and expectations for the future.

Johnson also called for greater clarity on certain past administrative decisions, including the circumstances surrounding changes in key government positions during Okowa’s tenure. He noted that transparency on such matters would help address public concerns and strengthen confidence in leadership.

On development, he said opinions remain divided among stakeholders regarding the impact of past projects and initiatives in Delta North. He emphasized the need for open evaluation of developmental outcomes and encouraged leaders seeking future mandates to clearly outline their track records and plans.

“Political leadership requires continuous engagement with the people. Aspirants should present verifiable achievements and clear policy directions that address current realities,” he added.

Johnson further urged political actors to prioritize inclusiveness and equitable development across all communities in Delta North, noting that unity within the party would be critical ahead of the 2027 elections.

He concluded by calling on stakeholders, including supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to promote dialogue, accountability, and cohesion within party structures.
