A U.S.-trained epidemiologist and grassroots politician, Dr. Olumuyiwa Olusoji Daramola, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the House of Representatives seat in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.

Daramola’s emergence followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, where party leaders unanimously agreed to zone the ticket to Ode-Aye.

The decision was described as a strategic move to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and internal cohesion.

Reacting to the development, Daramola called the outcome “a demonstration of true leadership and respect for established party structures.”

He noted that zoning remains a guiding principle in the party’s internal democratic process.

Daramola thanked the state governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and commitment to party unity and equally appreciated party leaders in the constituency for their support and confidence in his candidacy.

He is known for consistent community engagement and philanthropic work through his foundation, with initiatives in healthcare, community development, and youth empowerment.

The politician previously contested the APC primary in 2022 against the incumbent but lost.

Political observers in Okitipupa/Irele said his emergence reflects growing confidence in his leadership and dedication to service.

Leaders of the party in the federal Constituency expressed optimism that his candidacy will boost the APC’s chances in the election.

Daramola pledged purposeful representation anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.

He said he would prioritize legislation and projects that directly impact constituents.

“I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the leadership of our great party and the good people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency,” Daramola said. “I remain committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a clear focus on the needs of our people.”

He assured party members and supporters of his commitment to uphold the party’s core values and work with stakeholders to advance the constituency’s development.
