In the grand ballroom of the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, history did not merely unfold;it was meticulously orchestrated.
At the center of that orchestration stood Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Okechukwu Uche-Ukah; a strategist, a servant-leader, and the steady architect behind one of Rotary District 9110’s most defining moments. While applause thundered for Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie as she was installed the 43rd District Governor of Rotary International District 9110, insiders knew that the brilliance of the evening bore the fingerprints of one man whose leadership style is firm, focused, and fiercely committed to excellence: Rotn. PAG Okechukwu Uche-Ukah, Chairman of the Installation Planning Committee.
The event was not simply ceremonial. It was catalytic. District Governor Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, presiding over more than 150 Rotary Clubs across Lagos and Ogun States, used the platform not only to express gratitude to the distinguished “July 15 Legends,” but unveiled an audacious humanitarian vision: the construction of a state-of-the-art N100 Million Mental Health Centre in Lagos.
Under her leadership theme, “Creating Hope in the World,” Rotary District 9110 confronted a silent crisis—mental health challenges exacerbated by economic strain, social pressures, and post-pandemic realities. And it was PAG Okechukwu Uche-Ukah who ensured that this message did not whisper—but roared. As Chairman of the Installation Planning Committee, PAG Uche-Ukah transformed what could have been a routine investiture into a powerful fundraising and advocacy platform. Every segment was purposeful. Every dignitary strategically engaged. Every message aligned with Rotary’s mission.
In his remarks, he emphasized that the evening was more than a celebration; it marked the beginning of a bold fundraising campaign to amplify Rotary’s humanitarian footprint. His call to collective action resonated deeply across the hall, setting the tone for what promises to be a landmark Rotary year.
The ceremony convened an extraordinary constellation of leaders and dignitaries including Former Health Minister and a Past Rotary District Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi,His Royal Highness, Thomas Ikenna Obidiegwe, His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel C. Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senator Ganiyu Solomon and Chief Segun Showunmi, who was the Guest Speaker at the event, amongst other distinguished Rotarians and personalities.Their presence was not accidental—it was a testament to the credibility, planning precision, and strategic engagement championed by PAG Uche-Ukah and his team.
Rotary has long been recognized globally for its relentless fight against polio. Under Governor Ejezie’s administration, that humanitarian DNA expanded to confront mental health stigma and access gaps in Nigeria. The proposed N100 Million Mental Health Centre is more than infrastructure. It represents: early intervention and treatment access, community education and stigma reduction, professional support systems for vulnerable populations and a sustainable healthcare legacy in Lagos State.
