The Taraba State Police Command has launched a medical outreach and sanitation exercise in Turaki ‘A’ Ward, Jalingo, as part of activities marking this year’s National Police Week.

The free medical program, which drew a large turnout of residents, featured consultations, check-ups, distribution of medications, and referrals to specialized medical facilities.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Morkwap Dongshal, said the initiative is part of the Command’s corporate social responsibility to the host community. “Beyond our core policing duties, we are deeply concerned about the welfare of our immediate community, especially the needy and vulnerable,” he said.

CP Dongshal added that National Police Week is dedicated to honoring officers for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order and building public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

The Head of Medical Services for the Command, CSP Shehu John, noted that the outreach targets both young and elderly residents. “The police are committed to ensuring safety while also looking after the well-being of the people we serve,” he said.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for inspiring humanitarian initiatives that positively impact grassroots communities.

In addition to the medical outreach, officers conducted a sanitation exercise across Jalingo metropolis. Other planned activities for the week include the presentation of cheques to widows of deceased officers, a walkathon for personnel, and public enlightenment lectures.
