An advocate of financial inclusion, Fasasi Sarafadeen Atanda, has charged Nigerian youths, particularly fresh graduates, to prioritise skill acquisition, cultivate strong networks, and remain consistent in their pursuits as critical strategies for navigating life’s uncertainties.

Sarafadeen, National President of the Association of Financial Inclusion Agents of Nigeria, gave the advice while delivering a lecture titled “From Campus to Legacy: Maximizing Today, Building Relationships for Tomorrow” at the Post University Degree Summit 4.0, held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

According to him, academic excellence alone is no longer sufficient in today’s competitive environment, stressing the need for students to deliberately develop practical skills and build meaningful relationships that will support their career growth.

He said, “the campus phase is not just about earning a degree; it is about building capacity, relationships, and resilience that will stand the test of time”.

He emphasised that consistency in personal development and strategic networking remain indispensable tools for overcoming life’s challenges, urging undergraduates to embrace goal setting, continuous learning, and relationship-building both within and outside their immediate environment.

Highlighting resilience as a key determinant of post-graduation success, Sarafadeen noted that the ability to adapt and persevere in the face of challenges often distinguishes successful individuals.

Drawing from his personal journey from an agricultural background into the financial inclusion sector, he pointed out that adaptability, persistence, and deliberate networking played pivotal roles in shaping his career trajectory.

“Whether you choose paid employment or entrepreneurship, your ability to leverage skills and relationships will ultimately define your long-term success,” he added.

In recognition of his contributions and professional achievements, the alumni association honoured him with an Award of Excellence, describing him as a role model in Nigeria’s financial sector and a source of inspiration to young graduates.

The summit, which attracted students, alumni, and industry professionals, provided a platform to discuss practical approaches to career development amid Nigeria’s challenging economic climate. Participants described the session as insightful and transformative.
