A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure in Oyo State, Tobi Ogunbayo, has formally launched his campaign for the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election, outlining a welfare-driven agenda focused on healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
Speaking to supporters at Ajadi, Elewura Challenge, Ibadan, Ogunbayo presented what he described as a people-focused platform aimed at delivering development directly to grassroots communities.
Key elements of his agenda include:
Healthcare initiatives, including free maternal care, eyeglasses for the elderly and visually impaired, and emergency ambulance services.
Education support, such as free textbooks for students and the establishment of two libraries, one in each constituency, to promote literacy and academic excellence.
Economic empowerment, through the creation of microfinance banks to support unemployed graduates and small-scale enterprises.
Plans to introduce free transportation services within the constituency to ease commuting and improve accessibility.
“I am committed to taking governance closer to the people and ensuring that development is felt at the grassroots,” Ogunbayo said.
The event, well attended by party supporters, marked the formal start of his campaign, placing social welfare and community-based empowerment at the center of his bid for the 2027 polls.
