Okpebholo improving energy security in Edo – Reps aspirant, Igbinovia

Gov Monday Okpebholo of Edo State.

An aspirant for the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency in Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Felix Osaze Igbinovia has congratulated the Executive Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, on the groundbreaking ceremony of the 100MW CCETC Ologbo Power Generation Plant and the 300MT/Day LNG Processing Plant.

Hon. Igbinovia who described the feat as a major milestone in less than two years of the Okpebholo’s administration said, “the development is a significant step toward energy security and economic growth for the state”.

In a statement made available to journalists in Benin City, Hon. Igbinovia praised the governor’s leadership and commitment to infrastructural transformation, noting that the project reflects a bold vision for a more self-reliant Edo State.

According to him, the ceremony marks a turning point in the state’s quest for power independence and industrial expansion.

His words, “Today marks another bold step toward power independence for Edo State. The groundbreaking ceremony of the 100MW CCETC Ologbo Power Generation Plant and the 300MT/Day LNG Processing Plant demonstrates a clear commitment to strengthening our energy capacity and unlocking new opportunities for development,” he said.

The lawmaker further commended Governor Okpebholo for what he described as visionary leadership focused not only on addressing current challenges but also on laying the foundation for long-term prosperity.

According to him, “Visionary leadership is not only about solving today’s challenges; it is about building the systems that will power tomorrow’s prosperity,” Igbinovia added.

He expressed optimism that the project would boost electricity supply, attract investment, stimulate industrial growth, and create employment opportunities for residents across the state.

He noted that the power and LNG project, when completed, is expected to play a critical role in supporting Edo State’s energy infrastructure and driving sustainable economic development.
