Obodofie Integrated Service Limited has taken a major step in Nigeria’s energy sector by securing a License to establish a 25 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) mother station in Gbarain, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Procurement and Communications at Obodofie Integrated Service, High Chief Ebizimor Preye Raphael, the planned CNG plant would boost gas processing and distribution across the Niger Delta.
He said the move aligns with the national transition towards cleaner energy solutions and aims to bridge existing infrastructure gaps that have historically hindered the full utilisation of Nigeria’s vast natural gas reserves.
He said the project would support the manufacturing, power generation, and transport sectors while fostering local economic growth. He added that the development is expected to create jobs and stimulate ancillary businesses in logistics and maintenance, providing a significant boost to the livelihoods of host communities in the region.
“The planned CNG mother station is expected to play a pivotal role in gas processing and distribution within the Niger Delta and beyond. With a projected capacity of 25 MMSCF/D, the facility will compress natural gas for transportation to daughter stations and end-users across various sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, and power generation.
“This development underscores the growing momentum behind Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner and more cost-effective energy solutions, particularly through the expanded adoption of natural gas. As global energy dynamics continue to shift, natural gas—widely seen as a transition fuel—has become central to both government policy and private sector investment strategies,” the statement read.
Beyond the financial benefits, Raphael emphasised that the project is designed to tackle environmental challenges by reducing gas flaring and lowering greenhouse gas emissions in line with international climate commitments.
“In conclusion, the establishment of a 25 MMSCF/D CNG mother station in Gbarain marks a notable advancement in Nigeria’s gas utilization journey. Beyond its immediate operational benefits, the project represents a convergence of economic growth, energy transition, and environmental responsibility—key pillars that will shape the future of Nigeria’s energy landscape,” the statement added.
According to him, securing the license reflects a high level of regulatory confidence in the technical readiness of Obodofie Integrated Service Limited to execute large-scale infrastructure projects.
He said the milestone signals a strengthening of investor interest in the domestic gas sector, with indigenous companies increasingly taking the lead in driving Nigeria’s industrial evolution.
