Chiamaka J. Femi-Adeyinka, a Nigerian digital forensics expert and Ph.D. candidate at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), has developed AI-powered smart glasses designed to revolutionize crime scene analysis.
The glasses use real-time object detection algorithms to identify, tag, and log digital devices at crime scenes, acting as a “second set of eyes” to reduce human error and ensure critical evidence is not overlooked. Chiamaka presented the technology during her 2025 TEDxSHSU talk, “Through Their Eyes.”
Her broader research explores the integration of virtual reality in forensic training and comparative analyses of social media applications on Android devices.
With over a decade of experience as a Digital Forensics Analyst for the Nigerian government, Chiamaka has handled investigations involving smartphones, IoT devices, and cloud accounts. She also collaborated with private firms, including Rubio Digital Forensics in Dallas, Texas.
Her work has been recognized internationally. She contributed to the Department of Defense Cyber Scholar Program, developing mobile forensics frameworks for technical colleges, and supports the NIH All of Us Research Partners Program through data analytics. In 2025, she won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference in Cybersecurity, IoT, Data Science, and Digital Forensics (CIDDF).
As an educator, Chiamaka teaches digital forensics and cybersecurity labs at SHSU and mentors aspiring tech professionals worldwide through organizations such as Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS), EU Women4Cyber, and the UN-backed HerCyberTracks program.
She holds an MSc with Distinction in Computer Forensics and Cyber Security from the University of Greenwich, UK, and a BSc in Computer Science from Imo State University, Nigeria.
