Gbagi Plaza Landlord/Tenants Feud: Group urges restraint, cautions against misinformation

A group, Warri Urban Security Network (WUSN), has cautioned individuals, particularly self-styled social commentators, against spreading unverified information regarding the dispute involving the family of the late former Minister of Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, and tenants at Robinson Plaza in Warri.

It would be recalled that the Gbagi family, led by Chief Emuoboh Gbagi, and some tenants at the plaza located along Deco Road in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, have been involved in a disagreement over rent payments and related issues.

The situation reportedly led to petitions to various police formations before the matter was escalated to the State Command headquarters in Asaba. The dispute is also said to be subject to ongoing legal proceedings in courts within Warri and its environs.

In a statement issued yesterday, WUSN, described as a security advocacy group, expressed concern over what it termed the circulation of unverified claims capable of escalating tensions.

The group stated that issues surrounding rent payment arrangements had been addressed, with tenants advised on appropriate payment channels, while discussions on outstanding utility-related matters were ongoing.

According to the statement signed by Chief Frank Adagbabiri and Barrister Chinedu Ejiofor, Chairman and Secretary respectively, some tenants had resumed business activities, while efforts were continuing to resolve outstanding concerns.

WUSN urged all parties and the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to allow due process, including legal channels, to address all outstanding matters.

The group also called for calm and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
