Family members, friends and community leaders have continued to pay tribute to the late Elder Jatau Danladi Bako as March 7 marks one year since his passing.
Speaking with journalists, his son, Capt. Caleb Danladi, described the loss as deeply painful, noting that the vacuum created by his father’s death remains difficult for the family to fill.
He said the late elder lived a life defined by integrity, humility and commitment to the wellbeing of his family and the wider community.
According to him, the family continues to draw strength from the values their father instilled in them, particularly discipline, faith and service to humanity.
“Our father lived an exemplary life. Though his absence is still painful, we remain guided by the principles he taught us while he was alive,” he said.
The wife of the deceased, Mrs. Talatu Danladi, also reflected on their years together, describing her late husband as a caring, responsible and devoted family man.
She noted that he was committed to the unity and welfare of both his immediate family and the wider community. While acknowledging that his absence is greatly felt, Mrs. Danladi said the family remains grateful for the legacy of love, faith and togetherness he left behind.
Other children of the late elder, including Dr. Eli and Dr. Ezra, along with in-laws and relatives, also paid tribute, saying his guidance, wisdom and moral example continue to inspire the younger generation.
Also speaking, ASP Jonah described the late Elder Jatau Danladi Bako as a respected community elder known for his honesty and commitment to promoting harmony among people.
Members of the Kwoi District Church Council, Kurmin Musa DCC and the Ham community also remembered him for his humility, kindness and dedication to community development.
Meanwhile, the family announced that a memorial church service in honour of the late elder will be held on April 5, when family members, friends and well-wishers are expected to gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
