Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema has broken his silence on growing calls for him to contest the Delta South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, stating that he remains focused on his current responsibilities and has not taken any decision on a future bid.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Edema expressed appreciation to the Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance and other supporters across Delta South who have urged him to join the race, describing their endorsement as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him.
He, however, stressed that his immediate priority remains his role as Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its Joint Venture partners.
“At this moment, my focus remains firmly on the responsibility already entrusted to me as Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to NNPCL/JV Partners. This is not just a position—it is a duty to our people and our future,” he said.
Edema, a former President of the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG), noted that he is committed to delivering on the assignment given to him by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, with integrity and measurable impact, adding that he would not allow political distractions to derail the mission.
While acknowledging the rising political momentum around his name, he made it clear that consultations are ongoing and that any decision regarding the 2027 elections would be communicated at the appropriate time.
“As of today, I have not taken any decision regarding contesting in the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
Beyond his personal political future, Edema reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, noting that his political structure is already mobilising nationwide toward that goal.
He also pledged support for Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, emphasizing the need for continuity in governance to sustain development in the state.
“Our immediate political task is clear and non-negotiable. We are fully committed to ensuring the return of President Bola Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
“In Delta State, we are equally resolute in securing the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as continuity remains vital for progress,” he added.
Edema further hinted at plans to support a new direction for Warri Federal Constituency, noting that consultations are ongoing to identify credible individuals capable of providing stronger representation in the House of Representatives.
He assured supporters that their calls have strengthened, rather than pressured, his resolve to serve, pledging continued dedication to the people of Delta South.
“I remain one of you, and I will continue to stand with you,” he said.
Political observers say Edema’s statement reflects a cautious but strategic approach, keeping his options open while consolidating influence ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. For now, however, his message remains clear: focus on service before politics.
