Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has enhanced monitoring along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) through the use of drone technology and trained security personnel.
The initiative forms part of the Eastern Corridor pipeline network strategy to ensure the safety and integrity of critical oil infrastructure.
Operations are coordinated from several active camps along the pipeline corridor, including Camp 20 in Abia State, Camp 07 and Camp 05 in Rivers State, Camp 12 in Bayelsa State, and Camp 29 in Imo State.
Each camp hosts dedicated security teams responsible for monitoring pipeline activity and supporting rapid response operations when needed.
A mobile drone unit further strengthens coverage across the network, providing aerial monitoring at high-risk locations. The system allows for quick inspections, observation of pipeline activity, and support for ground teams during routine patrols or emergency situations.
Central to the operation is a security and operations control facility that monitors live drone feeds around the clock. Analysts review visuals from multiple camps and drone units to support timely decision-making and coordination of response teams.
By integrating drone surveillance, mobile response units, and centralized monitoring, PINL aims to strengthen pipeline security across Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Bayelsa states, reduce risks to infrastructure, and support safe and uninterrupted operations within the Trans Niger Pipeline network.
