A grassroots political group in Ogun State, the Omoluabi Movement, has begun mobilisation across the state in support of candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said its mobilisation drive is aimed at securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, supporting the senatorial ambition of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and promoting the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Adeola.

The movement disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta by its State Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Oluseun Joshua.

According to the statement, the group has intensified efforts to expand its grassroots structures across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts in preparation for the elections.

The statement, signed by the Convener of the movement, Mr. Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, said the mobilisation campaign was designed to deepen political participation among members and consolidate support for APC candidates across the state.

Akintunde noted that the Omoluabi Movement currently has over 30,000 registered members spread across various communities in Ogun State.

He revealed that the group had already commenced statewide mobilisation activities, deploying 27 buses to facilitate coordination and enhance engagement with members and supporters at the grassroots level.

“We began our mobilisation exercise a few days ago across Ogun State, deploying 27 buses to various communities. This effort is primarily focused on rallying support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state,” Akintunde said.

He added that the movement was also planning empowerment programmes for more than 30,000 registered members as part of its broader strategy to strengthen grassroots participation and loyalty within the political structure.

Akintunde also clarified that the Omoluabi Movement in Ogun State has no affiliation with any similarly named political organisation linked to former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

According to him, the name “Omoluabi” is a widely recognised Yoruba concept associated with good character and integrity, and should not be interpreted as belonging to any particular political figure.

“Our Omoluabi Movement is different and has no connection with what the former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Aregbesola, is associated with, as speculated by some individuals.

“The name ‘Omoluabi’ is a common Yoruba concept and is not tied to any political figure. Our focus remains mobilising support for APC candidates in Ogun State, with plans for future expansion,” he said.

He explained that the introduction of the buses was part of a strategic plan by the movement to strengthen its grassroots structures and improve organisational efficiency.

Akintunde further stated that the group’s long-term vision was to promote a political culture built around the Omoluabi ethos, which emphasises integrity, accountability, service, and respect for democratic values.

The statement also noted that the name “Omoluabi” reflects the philosophy guiding the activities of the movement, particularly its emphasis on responsible leadership, civic participation, and progressive governance.

According to the group, the inspiration for the name came during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who offered royal blessings during the unveiling of the 27 buses.

The movement listed its major objectives to include strengthening grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election, backing Governor Abiodun’s senatorial bid, and promoting the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola as Ogun State governor in 2027.

It also pledged support for other APC candidates seeking election into the National Assembly and the Ogun State House of Assembly.

“The movement’s mission is rooted in promoting participatory democracy, good governance, and sustained political engagement at the community level,” the statement added.

It further stressed its commitment to fostering political awareness, civic responsibility, and inclusive development initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between leadership and citizens across Ogun State.
