BOMADI — The Delta Ijaw Democratic Movement (DIDM), a prominent socio-political group, has thrown its weight behind the lawmaker representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a well-attended gathering held in Bomadi, the headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, where members of the group drawn from all wards in the council area commended Mutu’s legislative performance and developmental strides.

Speaking at the event, Barr. Dennis Alade said the group’s decision to support the lawmaker was based on his experience, commitment, and track record in the National Assembly.

According to him, “Hon. Mutu has diligently served his constituents over the years, demonstrating strong leadership and deep understanding of legislative processes. His inclusive leadership style has endeared him to the people.

“We need seasoned individuals who understand the workings of the National Assembly and governance in Nigeria. Mutu has proven himself as a competent and effective legislator. Having assessed his performance, we believe he should continue his good work, even as others remain free to contest.”

Also speaking, the coordinator of DIDM, Chief Gowon Kimaki, described the group’s endorsement as firm and unanimous, citing the lawmaker’s contributions to development across the constituency.

He highlighted Mutu’s role in attracting federal projects, as well as his empowerment programmes for youths and women, including annual free medical outreach initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access.

“After a careful review of his performance and achievements, we are convinced that he deserves another term to consolidate on his efforts. We will continue to mobilise support for his re-election,” Kimaki said.

The meeting also featured a vote of confidence on Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with participants expressing optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure victory in the riverine areas of the state.

A motion endorsing Mutu, Oborevwori, and Tinubu for the 2027 elections was moved by Barr. Alade, seconded by representatives from Akugbene Ward 7 and Esanma Ward 3, and subsequently adopted by the entire membership of the group.
