A new pan-African podcast, “Difference She Makes”, is set to launch with a clear message: when women lead in law, societies change.
The six-part weekly series, hosted by acclaimed Kenyan media personality and social activist Adelle Onyango, will air on the Legally Clueless platform and bring together leading women legal voices from Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
The podcast explores how women in the legal profession are driving reform, reshaping institutions, and building intergenerational solidarity across the continent.
Moving beyond legal theory, Difference She Makes examines law as a lived system—shaped not only by constitutions and policies, but also by culture, relationships, workplace realities, and leadership across generations.
Across six episodes, the series highlights the practical levers behind institutional change, from strategic litigation and professional ethics to movement-building, legal leadership, and everyday efforts to expand access to justice.
Guests on the podcast include Anne Ireri, outgoing Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA Kenya); Zikhona Ndlebe, a South African lawyer and researcher; Ruth Tanui, founder and managing partner of Ruth Tanui and Co. Advocates; and Natasha Ali Errey, advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Chairperson of the Mombasa Law Society and LSK Coast Branch.
Also featured are Odunoluwa “Odun” Longe, partner and co-founder of TLP Advisory, and Sibongile Ndashe, founder and executive director of the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA).
Onyango, who has global gender-equality platforms, including UN Women, has recognised, that the series of challenges narrows the definition of success in the legal profession.
“This series is much more than women succeeding in law,” she said. “It is about what happens when women are trusted with power—when their voices shape institutions, culture, and the future of our societies.”
Olivia Maina of Difference She Makes said the podcast reflects a shared reality across the continent.
“Reform only becomes real when women are part of shaping, interpreting, and sustaining it,” she said. “By bringing together women across generations and legal traditions, the podcast shows how progress is built cumulatively. For us, this is an essential step toward justice systems that are credible, inclusive, and future-ready.”
Episodes of Difference She Makes will air every Friday for six weeks on Legally Clueless platforms, supported by a coordinated multi-country amplification campaign across Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
