Nigerian entrepreneur and master carpenter Omotayo Lasaki is proving that artistry knows no boundaries, seamlessly merging her expertise in construction with a bold entry into music.
Known in the building industry as the force behind Tayasaki Interiors in Nigeria and Tayasaki Designs in the United States, Lasaki has built a reputation for precision, structural integrity, and aesthetic excellence. A licensed contractor by profession, she has spent years turning raw materials into functional beauty.
Now, her latest creation isn’t made of wood or stone—it’s crafted with rhythm and emotion. Her debut single “Grateful,” released across all major streaming platforms, reflects her journey from the workshop to global entrepreneurship.
“I have always loved to do things with my hands and try to repair broken things around the house,” Lasaki shared in a recent interview. “While I was seriously searching for what the next step I wanted to take in life was 10 years ago, being a carpenter fell in my path. It was a roller coaster at the beginning, but one thing I never did was give up. I didn’t want to fail or stop, so I kept persevering and pushing till today, and it doesn’t even end here.”
Entering a male-dominated field presented its challenges, but Lasaki’s determination and skill earned her respect and success. That same grit now fuels her music.
“Grateful” serves as a heartfelt soundtrack to her story, celebrating resilience, growth, and gratitude. The track is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
Lasaki’s dual pursuit highlights a growing wave of creatives who refuse to be confined to one lane, using discipline and passion to build across industries. From sawdust-covered tools to studio microphones, her journey continues to inspire.
