The Senator, representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Dapo Abiodun and applauded key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for sustaining unity within the party.

Speaking at the APC expanded stakeholders’ strategic meeting held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Salisu attributed the party’s cohesion to the leadership of former Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, Governor Abiodun and the State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

He particularly commended Sanusi’s leadership style, describing it as central to the party’s stability.

“His leadership style is our unity,” Salisu said. “Where our loyalty always stands; where we do not betray the system. These are the three people who make our party strong, reliable and united.”

The senator also highlighted Ogun State’s influence on national political discourse, noting that some of the popular slogans used during President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign originated from the state.

“If you recall, most of the slang used by our President during the 2023 campaign was generated here in Ogun State, such as ‘Emilokan’ and ‘Won gbépo pamo’,” he stated, underscoring what he described as the state’s strategic political role.

Declaring the support of federal lawmakers from the state for the President, Salisu said: “On behalf of my colleagues, we endorse our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the 2027 election.”

The endorsement came as Governor Abiodun mounted a robust defence of Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the simultaneous removal of fuel and foreign exchange subsidies as “the beginning of genuine reforms.”

According to the governor, early indicators show that the policies are yielding results.

“We are already witnessing falling inflation, a stabilising naira and foreign reserves now in the region of $45 billion,” Abiodun said. He also cited ongoing infrastructure projects, including the coastal highway and the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.

Abiodun, who announced plans to deliver a new APC state secretariat within six months, described a united APC in Ogun as “unbeatable.”

He further disclosed that the Federal Government had thrown its weight behind plans to establish what he said would become the largest dairy and cattle ranch in Ipokia and Yewa South, adding that extending Tinubu’s mandate beyond 2027 would help consolidate ongoing economic recovery efforts.

The meeting was attended by Chief Osoba; Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Ogun West); Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako; National Working Committee member, Hon. Tolu Bankole; and other party stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of the state.
