Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the appointment of Chief Austin Arieja, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sapele, as Executive Assistant on Community Development.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Government to strengthen community engagement and improve coordination of grassroots development programmes across the state.

Political stakeholders in Sapele described the development as significant, noting that Arieja’s emergence reflects a broader commitment to inclusive governance. They said the new Executive Assistant is expected to facilitate closer collaboration between local communities and the state government.

Party leaders within the APC in Sapele welcomed the appointment, stating that it would enhance representation and deepen participation in development initiatives at the grassroots level. They expressed optimism that Arieja would bring his experience in party organisation and community mobilisation to bear in his new role.

Sources close to the administration indicated that the Office of the Executive Assistant on Community Development is tasked with liaising with community leaders, monitoring local needs, and supporting the implementation of government policies at the community level.

In his reaction, Chief Arieja thanked Governor Oborevwori for the opportunity to serve, describing the appointment as a call to greater responsibility. He pledged to discharge his duties with diligence and transparency.

“I appreciate His Excellency for the confidence reposed in me,” Arieja said. “I am committed to living up to expectations and ensuring that community development efforts align with the governor’s vision for Delta State.”

He also acknowledged the support of APC leaders and members in Sapele and across the state, assuring them that he would work collaboratively to promote unity, effective representation, and sustainable development at the grassroots.
