Governor of Anambra state , Dr Chukwuma Soludo, has been commended for bringing an end to the Monday sit-at-home across the entire eastern states.

The sit at home which has lasted for about three years was a directive by the Indigenous People of Biafra , IPOB, across the entire east to press for release of its detained leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Soludo a few days ago announced its cancellation in Anambra state, ordering traders at the popular Onitsha market to open their shops every Monday.

Describing the courageous move of the governor as historic the leader of Arewa in the south ,Alhaji Musa Saidu said Soludo had won his heart with the bold step he took to end the IPOB ‘s directive which had caused a major set back to the business climate in the east.

Continuing, Saidu said Soludo had again demonstrated his sterling leadership qualities as governor of the state, noting that he had transformed into a heroic personality across the eastern states and the country.

” Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shown that he is a great leader with the way he has ended the Monday sit-at -home Without his move IPOB would not have called off the sit at home. The sit- at -home has revealed that there was an internal conspiracy over it. Some politicians used the sit at home as a bargaining force in the last election . Soludo has shown that he is a leader who enjoys acceptance of his people.

” A lot of northerners died during this sit at home .Their goods were burnt , they were killed. A northern woman was killed with her children some time ago in Anambra.

“Soludo has proven that he is the leader of the Igbo nation. Soludo’s heroic action should be celebrated by all.

” Last Monday all markets were opened across Ibo land. We know the properties northerners lost to sit-at -home. Our trailers with goods were burnt and the drivers killed.

“Onitsha is like my second home. It was in that place my father retired as a Nigerian soldier. I was there with my father. You see why I call it a home. I am so happy that business has returned to normal in the city with the end of sit- at- home”, he said .

Saidu also expressed the hope that the end of the sit-at -home would also translate into a massive electoral victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

” This end to sit-at -home will also bring political victory for Tinubu in the east . Tinubu will sweep the eastern votes. Those playing politics with sit -at -home will no longer have such an opportunity “, he said.
