Lugbe residents seek federal intervention over deteriorating roads

By Ibrahim Hassan-Wuyo

Residents and road users in Lugbe, a rapidly growing residential and commercial hub in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for urgent intervention regarding the condition of key roads in the community.

In an open letter titled “A Humble Appeal to Fix Lugbe Roads”, residents emphasized that Lugbe has become a major urban district hosting thousands of civil servants, business owners, students, transporters, and families contributing to Abuja’s economy.

The letter noted that several roads across the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Lugbe axis are in poor condition, with potholes, damaged drainage systems, and worn pavements, leading to longer travel times and challenges for commuters and local businesses.

Residents requested a technical assessment of the roads, inclusion of Lugbe in infrastructure plans, and a clear timeline for proper rehabilitation using durable construction materials.

The appeal, signed by Mr. Michael Nwaohiri, Convener of the Fix Lugbe Roads Campaign, was also copied to the FCT Minister, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, and the Federal Housing Authority.

Residents expressed hope that the federal government would address the concerns and ensure that the community receives the necessary infrastructure improvements.
