The Aroloye royal family in ldanre, Ondo state, has affirmed the eligibility of Prince Kayode Aroloye to contest for the vacant stool of the Owa of ldanre.

Recall that the late Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Adegunle Aroloye, joined his ancestors in December, 2024.

The family of the late monarch, Oba Aroloye, through their lawyer, Akinyemi Omoware, in a letter to the state government, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, requested that the state governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa should call the Local government and Chieftaincy commissioner, Alhaji Amidu Takuro to order and to adhere to the extant Registered Chieftaincy Declaration of Owa of Idanre.

They raise the alarm that the ministry wanted to foist an ineligible candidate on the Ruling House may cause crises, breach of peace and possibly lead to breakdown of law and order.

According to them, the ministry was conniving with and or giving undue support to one Mr. Kayode Aroloye with a motive to circumventing the provisions of the Registered Declaration.

“Our above position is apt in that Mr. Kayode Aroloye is not in anyway qualify or eligible to participate and be appointed as Owa of Idanre because he is not a son of any previous holder of the title of Owa of Idanre as clearly entrenched in the Registered Declaration.

But in a swift response, Fadekemi Aroloye, on behalf of the bigger Owa ruling house of Idanre, declared that Prince Kayode Aroloye was eligible to contest the stool.

Fadekemi said that “When the royal family called for application from members who were interested in filling the stool of Owa of Idanre, Prince Kayode Aroloye was one of the 21 candidates that applied

“At the vetting level by the committee set up by the family to scrutinise the candidates, Prince Kayode Aroloye was one of the 7 shortlisted names forwarded to the kingmakers.

“He was also one of the 5 cleared by the kingmakers for election out of the 7 names forwarded by the royal family.

“This is possible because prince Kayode Aroloye is a great grand son of Oba Aladegbule Aroloye, the 25th Owa of Idanre.

“By the registered declaration and the Morgan commission report, which were used by the family and the kingmakers, Prince Kayode Aroloye is eminently qualified.

“The immediate past Owa, who is the father of this line of the royal family was imposed on the people by the instrumentality of western state government after losing more than 4 times to his junior brother after the vote by the kingmakers; no wonder their fears. He who kills by the sword.

“We would not bother to petition the Governor as they have done, because there are so many of petitions with the government including those quering the legitimacy of having the next Owa among the sons of the immediate past owa when we have more than 7 lineages eminently eligible to fill the stool.

“We advise the children of the immediate past Owa to maintain decorum. The ascension of their father to the throne was full of shit,we hope they would not allow us to spill more.

Also, reacting, Prince Kayode Aroloye, called for restraint and mutual understanding as a family.

Prince Kayode Aroloye, said that “moved by the importance of unity, and recognizing that we share one family and name, I wish to appeal to my brothers—who are also in this race with me—to exercise restraint regarding actions that could further disrupt the peace we have long enjoyed as a family.

” It is undeniable that we are all eligible to contend for the vacant stool of the Owa of Idanre, a position once held by the esteemed Oba Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, my uncle.

“He was a legend whom I greatly respect, and it is my commitment to uphold his memory and legacies with the utmost decorum and honor.

“l urged my brothers and by extension my cousins to prioritize peace as we navigate this journey together.
