The Non-Executive Commissioner Nominee of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and APC Chieftain in Kwara State, Engr. Sunday Adebayo Babalola has conveyed warm felicitations to both Christian and Muslim faithful on the commencement of Lent fasting.
Babalola in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin, acknowledged the sacred period of Christians 40 days of reflection, prayer, and fasting leading to Easter, reminding Christians of Jesus’ sacrifice.
“Lent is a time for spiritual renewal, self-examination, and drawing closer to God,” he said, urging Christians to embody its teachings of love, forgiveness, humility, and service to humanity.
Noting that Islam’s Ramadan coincides with Lent, Engr. Babalola stressed: “This parallel fasting calls for greater interfaith harmony, unity, and mutual respect between Muslims and Christians, as both faiths preach peace.”
He prayed: “The Lord Jesus Christ bless this season of Lent. May it bring spiritual growth, peace, and revival.
“We pray for The Lord to rescue Nigeria, especially Kwara State and all other troubling States in Nigeria, from banditry, insecurity, and violence. May God protect our lands and grant peace. Amen.”
