The Senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has denied allegations linking him to improper procurement practices, stating that a constituency project cited in a recent report was lawfully executed and fully implemented.
Senator Jarigbe was responding to a publication by civic monitoring platform Tracka, which raised concerns over a constituency project allegedly associated with members of his family.
In a statement, the lawmaker clarified that while the project referenced in the report was completed and paid for, he does not hold any directorship or ownership position in the company involved in its execution.
He further noted that the project in question was successfully delivered, adding that the key issue in assessing constituency projects should be their proper implementation and impact on the people.
Addressing references to his relatives, Senator Jarigbe stated that his family members are private citizens who are legally entitled, like all Nigerians, to participate in government procurement processes in line with existing laws.
The senator reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service, emphasizing that his focus remains on ensuring that constituency projects translate into tangible benefits for residents of Cross River North.
He also reaffirmed his dedication to improving the welfare and standard of living of his constituents, stating that service delivery remains his primary responsibility as an elected representative.
