A House of Representatives hopeful for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Dr. Oluwarotimi George-Taylor, has empowered over 200 residents with Point of Sale (POS) machines and cash grants to support small-scale businesses.

The empowerment programme, held in Ake, Abeokuta, attracted party leaders, ward chairmen and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the programme, George-Taylor said the initiative was designed to provide succour to residents, boost small businesses and promote financial inclusion across the constituency.

He noted that the gesture formed part of his commitment to improving the welfare and well-being of the people, stressing that economic empowerment remains a veritable tool in the fight against poverty.

“I welcome you all to this remarkable gathering, one that is deeply personal and purposeful to me. Today, we are not just distributing machines or handing out cash; we are planting seeds of dignity, responsibility and prosperity,” he said.

According to him, over 200 beneficiaries, comprising loyal party members, received POS machines and start-up funds as part of efforts to reduce poverty through empowerment.

“This initiative will go a long way in improving the lives of our people and creating opportunities for sustainable income,” he added.

An APC chieftain, Allen-Taylor, described the initiative as more than the distribution of POS machines and cash, saying it represented the planting of seeds that would empower families and improve living conditions across the constituency.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke at the event, expressed appreciation to George-Taylor for the gesture, offering prayers for his political aspirations.
