In 2022, a young software engineer began her journey with a four-month intensive bootcamp. Just a few years later, she is positioning herself as one of the emerging product-focused engineers working at the intersection of technology, business enablement and digital infrastructure in Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.
Oluwatobiloba Akinrimisi, a frontend-heavy full-stack software engineer and product builder, has built her career around designing scalable digital solutions for startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Her work focuses not just on writing code, but on translating business challenges into functional, user-friendly digital tools.
Shortly after completing her bootcamp training, she secured a two-month internship that transitioned into a full-time engineering role — an early indication of her technical competence and growth trajectory.
One of her most notable early contributions was as a core member of the founding engineering team behind Esemie, a business management platform developed to support SMEs with invoicing, expense tracking and operational workflows. Working alongside cross-functional teams, she helped build and scale the platform from the ground up.
The product went on to achieve significant adoption among businesses seeking to streamline their financial and operational processes, establishing itself as a practical digital solution for entrepreneurs navigating increasingly complex markets.
Building on that experience, she founded Weassist Virtual, a technology and business solutions company focused on helping founders transform ideas into scalable digital products. Through the company, she provides frontend engineering, product implementation and technical advisory services to early-stage startups and growing businesses across multiple sectors.
On January 31, 2026, Weassist Virtual received the Flourish Africa Grant, an acknowledgment of its innovation and contribution to technology-enabled entrepreneurship. The grant provided external validation of the company’s growing footprint within Nigeria’s startup landscape.
Beyond commercial projects, she is also involved in mission, driven technology initiatives, including platforms aimed at financial inclusion, digital savings systems and climate-smart agricultural solutions. Her broader vision centers on using technology as a tool for economic empowerment and sustainable growth in emerging markets.
With a long-term ambition to build globally relevant products that combine strong engineering, thoughtful design and measurable social impact, Akinrimisi continues to expand her footprint as both a founder and engineer, contributing to Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem while building solutions with global potential.
