The Federal Character Commission, FCC, and the Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, have pledged closer institutional collaboration to advance transparency, accountability and constitutional compliance in the public sector.
Executive Chairman of FCC, Mrs Hulayat Ayo Omidiran, stated this on Wednesday when she received the Executive Chairman of NRS, Mr Zacch Adedeji, during a courtesy visit at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Omidiran said the commission’s constitutional mandate of ensuring equitable representation across more than 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, remains central to national cohesion and credibility in governance.

She noted that structured cooperation with fiscal authorities would improve regulatory alignment, strengthen data governance and promote systemic transparency across government institutions.

She said “The Federal Character principle is not symbolic; it is foundational to balanced governance and national unity. Strategic inter-agency alignment strengthens compliance mechanisms and supports evidence-based public administration.”

Also speaking, Executive Chairman of NRS Zacch Adedeji stressed the need to harmonise revenue administration with constitutional oversight institutions, noting that coordinated federal action is critical to macroeconomic stability and inclusive development.

He said: “Sustainable revenue generation must be anchored on governance frameworks that promote transparency, accountability and institutional integrity.”

Both agencies agreed that stronger collaboration would enhance institutional efficiency and reinforce reforms aimed at improving public sector governance.
