The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, on Thursday flagged off the reconstruction of three roads and the development of key public infrastructure, including a 700-seater Information and Communication Technology, ICT, hub and a rebuilt Primary Health Centre, PHC, as part of efforts to deepen grassroots development.

The projects, inaugurated on February 19, 2026, include the reconstruction of Babani Street, Oluwa Street and Uweriro Street; the rebuilding of Akere Primary Health Centre from scratch; and the construction of a 700-capacity ICT Hub aimed at equipping youths with digital skills.
Akindipe described the initiatives as a significant milestone in the history of the council, saying the administration was committed to translating promises into tangible results.

He said the road projects would improve connectivity, ease movement and stimulate economic activities within the council area.
“For the first time since the inception of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Babani Street is set to wear a new face, joining other streets in a bold wave of infrastructural renewal,” he said.
The chairman added that the upgraded Akere PHC would enhance access to quality and affordable healthcare services for residents, while the ICT hub would serve as a technology-driven empowerment centre for youths in the community.
In the education sector, Akindipe disclosed that the council had procured three 32-seater buses under the Renewed Hope School Shuttle Scheme to provide safer and more convenient transportation for students.
He also said the council was distributing free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, forms to indigent students and offering tertiary-level support to outstanding performers as part of its intervention programmes.
Akindipe further announced plans to distribute food packages to Muslim and Christian residents during the ongoing holy period, describing the gesture as part of the administration’s social welfare commitments.
Reaffirming his pledge to meet ward-level demands raised at the council’s budget stakeholders’ meeting, he assured residents that no community within the local government would be excluded from ongoing development efforts.
“This is not politics of promises; it is politics of performance,” he said, urging residents and stakeholders to support the council in sustaining development across roads, healthcare, education and technology.
The chairman aligned the projects with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that ongoing economic reforms would yield positive results for the country.
Speaking at the event, the member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, called for unity and patience among Nigerians.
“When we live in peace, progress will come and development will come,” he said.

On the nation’s economic and security situation, the lawmaker expressed optimism that challenges facing the country were gradually easing and urged citizens to give the Federal Government more time to consolidate ongoing reforms.
He also reiterated support for President Tinubu’s leadership, expressing confidence in his capacity to transform the nation’s fortunes.
