In a bid to celebrate the 84th birthday of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye an outreach arm of the Church otherwise called Reach4Christ has launched a scholarship and rehabilitation at one of Africa’s largest waste sites, with approximately 100 acres in Lagos, Olusesun landfill.
Fielding questions from newsmen yesterday, Chairman of the group Pastor Leke Adeboye explained that the Reach4Christ initiative on behalf of the General Overseer launched a structured education and youth protection campaign titled “Education For All”.
He said, “We aimed at expanding access to formal education and preventing substance abuse and cultism among children living in and around the Olusosun community.
“The initiative is implementing an ongoing Preparatory Class Education intervention designed to serve as a structured transition into the formal school system. The programme delivers foundational literacy and numeracy instruction facilitated by trained educators within an organised community-based learning environment. Basic learning materials are provided to participating children.
“The initiative is providing full scholarship support for eligible pupils as part of their transition into public primary schools within the Olusosun-Ikosi axis.” The scholarship covers school enrolment and administrative fees, uniforms, writing materials, essential stationery, and other basic educational supplies.
“The support removes the primary financial barriers that prevent children in the community from accessing formal education, ensuring sustained school participation rather than temporary enrolment.
He added that the campaign incorporates the Anti-Drug and Anti-Cultism Initiative, ADACI, a preventive framework focused on early behavioural intervention and youth rehabilitation.
“Children and adolescents growing up in high-risk environments like Landfill often face increased exposure to substance abuse, gang activity, and cult recruitment. ADACI addresses these vulnerabilities through age-appropriate drug awareness education, anti-cultism sensitisation sessions, structured mentorship, guided counselling, and faith-based, values-driven character development.”
