ABUJA – A grassroots based organization, POLIVOX, yesterday, joined Niger Deltans and Nigerians to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chairman, Maton Engineering Nigeria Ltd, saying he serves as a bridge between generations and inspiring young people.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Publicity Secretary, POLIVOX, Afekhai John, also described Tonlagha as lighthouse on the shores of the Niger Delta.
The statement reads in part, “In a resounding tribute that echoes across the Niger Delta and beyond, POLIVOX, a grassroots force rising to shape the future of politics, economics, and society, has joined voices in celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chairman of Maton Engineering Nigeria Ltd.Marking his 50th birthday, Tonlagha’s life and legacy have become a beacon of hope, resilience, and transformation.
“His blueprints have drafted more than structures; they have designed futures. Through Maton Engineering, he has not only constructed vital infrastructure but also laid the foundation for skills, employment and enduring dignity.
“Each project stands as a evidence of his belief that true development is measured not merely in concrete, but in changed lives and empowered communities.
“Fifty years is more than a milestone, it is a symbol of endurance, wisdom and generational impact. For Engr. Tonlagha, it represents decades of service to humanity, battles fought for justice, values upheld in leadership and lives touched across the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
“His journey reflects the resilience of a man who has stood as a bridge between generations, inspiring the youth while strengthening the foundation for a greater tomorrow.”
The group also said he (Tonlagha) “is a special gift to the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta, a pathfinder whose leadership calmed turbulent waters and promoted peace, security and development in the region”, based on “his contributions to public service and community development have earned him respect and admiration across diverse spheres of society.”
“POLIVOX celebrates Engr. Tonlagha not only as one of the finest in the Niger Delta but also as an inspiration to men and women of all ages, especially the youth. His philanthropy, people-centered leadership and commitment to justice embody the very essence of grassroots empowerment and national progress.

Meanwhile, the group also described Engr. Tonlagha’s life as “a lighthouse on the shores of the Niger Delta, guiding ships through stormy seas, illuminating paths for generations yet unborn, and reminding society that greatness is not in titles but in service.
