The management of Yard 158 has assured the Lagos State House of Assembly and Consumer Protection Council of its readiness to comply with directives “to bring about an equitable solution to this matter” with one of it clients.

Recall that a dispute between the management of Yard 158 Events Arena and a client over the cancellation policy as agreed in the Terms and Conditions at the point of booking, later devolved into an invitation by the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Council.

Reacting in a statement to stories in the media about the matter, Yard 158 stressed that it is conscious of its contributions in the promotion of the hospitality industry in Lagos State, and so “will not be drawn into needless squabbles and unfruitful disputations”.

The statement by Oluwafeyikemi Branco-Rhodes, CEO of Yard158 Events Arena, read: “We note with concern, the very unfavorable and unfortunate story published in some national newspapers following a dispute between the management of Yard 158 Events Arena and one of our clients over the cancellation policy as agreed in the Terms and Conditions at the point of booking.

“While acknowledging that in the human space, disagreements and conflictual situations arise from time to time, it is the ability of parties to keep a clear head and search for mutually beneficial conditions for peaceful negotiations and agreements that is critical for a just resolution.

“This is regardless of what we see as a deliberate attempt in some quarters to damage the hard earned and trusted brand known as Yard 158 in the state.

“That Yard 158 is a good, trusted, and responsible citizen of the state is not in doubt and our patronage over the last 20 years is a testament to this.

“The management of Yard 158 is appreciative of the interventions by both the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Consumer Protection Council to resolve the matter.

“We are not ignorant of the importance of the State House of Assembly in the political configuration of the state and hold the institution in high esteem. We also regret our inability, due to unavoidables exigencies to attend the meetings to which we were invited.

“The management of Yard 158 is committed to comply with the direction of the House of Assembly and the Consumer Protection Council to bring about an equitable solution to this matter.”
