a lecturer at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Ochuko Iduemre, has lauded the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Edoba Omoregie (SAN) stated that his first year in office has been characterized by tangible results and project implementation rather than mere pronouncements.
The don who spoke to newsmen in Benin highlighted the significant progress made under the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership.
Iduemre, a Professor of Industrial Sociology and Labour Relations in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Benin, praised the Vice-Chancellor’s exceptional performance during his first anniversary.
He added, one year after assuming office the University of Benin “(UNIBEN) is wearing a visible different face ranging from the glow of solar powered streetlights to the hum of steady electricity, students hostels renovation, commissioning of (UNIBEN)first moulding block factory, infrastructural development and the steady rise of a new Senate complex.”
“The first year of Prof. Omoregie as the vice Chancellor has been marked by tangible campus-wide transformation.” he said.
Prof. Iduemre highlighted the unprecedented development witnessed at the university under Prof. Omoregie’s leadership and “commended the Vice-Chancellor’s vision in promoting excellence at the university.”
“As UNIBEN enters the second year of his tenure, expectations are rising alongside the new Senate Building itself. If the first year was about laying foundations—both literal and institutional—the coming years would test how far this momentum can carry the university. For now, one thing is clear: one year on, UNIBEN is not standing still, and its campus tells the story.
“As he steps into his second year, the signs are unmistakable: UNIBEN is building again, physically, institutionally, and symbolically.Perhaps the most striking statement of intent came with the laying of the foundation for a new ultra-modern, state-of-the-art Senate Building. Approved and fully sponsored by the Federal Government, the project is already underway—an achievement widely credited to the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and engagement.
“More than concrete and steel, the project represents renewed federal confidence in the institution and its leadership.” Iduemre said.
